Care and Relief
In 1997, Dr S.U. Ahmed, now the founder of The Retina Centre, was having an informal chat with Dr G. F. Hilton at a dinner hosted by Dr S. S. Badrinath at Chennai. Dr Hilton, who is considered as the father of Pneumoretinopexy and a renowned Retinologist was reminiscing his journey from serving in the US Army then graduating to practising as a General Ophthalmologist and finally becoming a Retinal Surgeon. Having served in the Indian Army himself, Dr Ahmed was deeply inspired by this conversation and sought to seek training himself. He specialized as a Vireo-retinal Surgeon from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, realizing and working towards his motto to serve the people of his home turf, the North-Eastern states.
